Thorned Blackberry bushes

Postby spaz55555 » Jun 12, 2014 8:51 pm

Does anyone know where I can find thornED blackberry bushes? We had some when I was a teenager that were semi trailing and had thorns. I lived on Manitoulin island and they survived the winter with a very minimal winter kill off. Unfortunately we sold the house and the next owners got rid of them. They were vigorous growers and easily propagated by soil layering. Anyways, any help to find some now would be great! All I can ever find is thornless...
Thanks!

Hmm, I just checked mine and realised that it is thornless too, I never realised!

Is there anywhere near to you where you can find and maybe dig up some wild ones? I have seen wild thorny blackberries (perhaps not true blackberries but a hybrid?) north of Temiskaming in Quebec
