What is it on my tree?

Postby Andy_V » Apr 16, 2014 9:34 pm

I have a couple of branches with something like a fungi growing on them. Could you please help identify what it is and what should I do about it?

It's a fungus called Black Knot......there is no cure or fungicide that will treat it......the only recomendation, is to cut the fungus off (removing the branch it is on) to help prevent the spread.....
It is very hard to control this disease.

Thank you. The branches are off now. Looks like it is a common problem in our area according to one article. They mentioned also that it is more of an aesthetic problem than a real danger to the plant. I will keep an eye on it from now.
