Red ants and transplants

Postby Hollyhill » Apr 04, 2014 5:06 pm

My friend has offered me a few divisions for my new garden. There are a few plants I really want partly because they are hard to find and I love them. Especially her saxifrage, astrantia and light blue siberian iris. But they come with a catch. She says she has something called "fire" ants. She says they are nasty biting creatures and she can't get rid of them. Is there some way to "treat" her gifts organically so I don't transfer the problem. Or should I not bother... :(
