Aldona Satterthwaite is editor-in-chief of Canadian Gardening, Canada’s most popular gardening magazine. Thanks to Baba, her grandmother, she started gardening as a child and hasn’t stopped since. She’s passionate about many other things including reading, nature, theatre, music, art, food, architecture, travelling, design, films and having a good laugh—in short, life. She has two grown children and a 20 x 150-foot downtown Toronto garden.
Aldona completed her journalism studies at the Regent Street Polytechnic (now Westminster University) in London, England, studied landscape architecture at Ryerson University and is a Master Gardener. She’s enjoyed a varied and successful writing and editing career that has spanned magazines, advertising and the museum world. Before joining Canadian Gardening, she was Director of Writing Services at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Check back weekly for Aldona’s off-the-cuff, irreverent blog posts—sometimes about gardening, and sometimes not.
